An extraordinary congress of the republican public association "Kazakhstan National Geographic Society" QazaqGeography began its work at Nazarbayev University in Astana on May 19.

The members of the Board of Trustees and the Management Council of QazaqGeography, as well as active members of the Geographical Society, took part in the work of the congress.

Organizational issues, in particular, the introduction of a new post — Chairman of QazaqGeography, were discussed at the congress. Following the voting results, Askar Mamin was elected to this post. Also, the Regulation on the Chairman was approved and the relevant amendments to the Charter of the KNGS were adopted. In addition, a working meeting devoted to the discussion of topical issues of the development of the Kazakhstan National Geographic Society was held.

• geography, climate;
• environment, natural resources;
• biodiversity;
• tourism, travel, local history;
• historical and cultural heritage, ethnography.

At present, 11 representative offices work in the following regions: Almaty, Akmola, Aktobe, East Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay, Mangystau, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan and South Kazakhstan. QazaqGeography implements projects sponsored by the Eurasian Group (ERG), Vostoktsvetmet LLP, Kazakhmys Corporation LLP.
