System-forming enterprises of Kazakhstan are ready for changes within the framework of Industry 4.0 – MID RK

Today the Minister for Investments and Development Zhenis Kassymbek shared the results of the technical audit of the industry of Kazakhstan for its compliance with the requirements and standards of the Industry 4.0 at the press center of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to him, the large companies of Kazakhstan have the greatest potential and the opportunities for the rapid introduction of the elements of Industry 4.0.

"We see that the large system-forming enterprises that are the basis of single-industry cities, understand that if they are not modernized, they will not be technologically restructured, then in the next 5-6 years they will become uncompetitive," Zh. Kassymbek said.

The Minister noted that enterprises are already independently dealing with issues of the introduction of digital technologies. In particular, this can be seen on the new projects being implemented.

For example, KazZink is implementing the project "Zhayrem Polymetals", in which a highly automated enriching factory will be built and put into commercial operation using elements of Industry 4.0 such as "Industrial Internet of things" , Big Data and "self-contained equipment" by March 2020 in the Karaganda region.

It is planned within the framework of the project to introduce a system of full automated mining management. The investment in the project is about 100 billion tenge.

Of the recently launched enterprises, Kassymbek noted KAZ Minerals Bozshakol LLP and KAZ Minerals Aktogay LLP, which have the most advanced mining and processing equipment to ensure high productivity.

"I can say with confidence that these enterprises correspond largely to the Industry 4.0. They are automated as much as possible. 1500 people work at each of them and produce as in some of our single-industry towns with a population of tens of thousands," the Minister stressed.

Zh. Kassymbek drew attention to the problematic side of this issue. In Kazakhstan today there is a huge layer of enterprises created in the Soviet era, the level of which corresponds to Industry 2.0.

"Within the framework of Industry 4.0, we have the opportunity to step through several stages. This can be seen in the example of the Karaganda steel plant. This is a classic enterprise of Industry 2.0, where a large-scale reconstruction was carried out, all machines were demolished, and modernization was carried out. Now this is an enterprise with maximum robotization. In December we would launch it," said Zh. Kassymbek.

The Minister also noted that our enterprises understand all the challenges of Industry 4.0 and are actively working in this direction.

In addition, according to Zh. Kassymbek, Industry 4.0 has a serious impact on the characteristics of labor in the industrial sector. Thus, in the near future specialists, who have the skills to work with advanced information and communication technologies, in addition to engineering and technical and other knowledge, will be needed.

It is quite natural that in the case of modernization of production, less number of people will be employed. But at the same time new business structures appear around new technological enterprises, which in turn will lead to the creation of jobs in the service sector.

"We will carry out a lot of work in this direction," the Minister added.
