Issues of introduction of labeling of medicines and jewelry were discussed at the meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov with the participation of representatives of Atameken.

To date, tobacco products and shoes are subject to labeling in the republic. The introduction of this measure allowed to ensure traceability of goods, effectively detect illegal products, reduce shadow turnover and increase tax revenues to the budget. In general, labeling is designed to protect bona fide entrepreneurs and protect consumers.

The introduction of labeling of medicines is scheduled for July 1, 2024. In this regard, work is being done to ensure the readiness of pharmacies, pharmacy warehouses and private health care organizations.

Marking of jewelry is also planned to be introduced on July 1, 2024. The relevant pilot project was completed in October this year.

As a result of the discussion Prime Minister instructed to introduce administrative responsibility for the sale of unmarked goods in accordance with the established procedure, as well as to take measures to improve the mechanism of selection of goods for labeling in the pilot mode.

In general, work in this direction will be continued. In particular, pilot projects are planned for motor oils, beer and beer drinks in 2024.
