Number of citizens engaged in physical culture is increasing in Kazakhstan

Today during the meeting of the Government under the chairmanship of Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev, the results of work on development of sports infrastructure and attraction of citizens of Kazakhstan to physical training were considered.

Minister of Culture and Sports Arystanbek Mukhamediuly reported that by the end of 2016 more than four million people had been covered with physical education and sports or about 27.4% of the population. In three years, this indicator grew by 2.3%. At the same time, the share of children and adolescents with systematic occupations is 15.3%. Today, about 20% of university students are involved in sports, and 30% are involved in colleges.

Conditions are created for disabled people engaged in sports. Since 2009, the coverage of those engaged has increased from 4% to 10.2%.

The share of those engaged in national sports has increased from 5.9% in 2013 to 7.7% in 2016. For national sports today in the Republic there are 7 specialized sports clubs and the Center for National and Equestrian Sports in Astana.

"The Kazakhstan Barysy project has already become our national sports brand and has reached the international level through the organization of such tournaments as the Eurasia Barysy and Alem Barysy. Thanks to this children and young people in the villages are actively involved in the section of qazaq kuresi. As a result of the XI session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, Qazaq Kuresi was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO," A. The presidential tests are an important component of mass sports. Every year more than four million people take part in them.

The country has 11,1 thousand sports facilities and their number increased by 4% compared to 2015. Since the beginning of 2017 in the regions, at the expense of local budgets and sponsorship funds, construction of 11 sports and recreation complexes has been completed. The construction of fitness and health centres are at the stage of completion in four regions.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted that in some schools of the country there are problems with providing sports equipment, in this regard the regional governors are instructed to take this issue under control. Also in a number of schools there are no own sports halls, according to Bakytzhan Sagintayev, it is also necessary to pay close attention and practice an integrated approach when involving children in sports.
