Government presents project for construction of 500-hectare greenhouse in Turkistan region

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov met with Alexander Rudakov, President of the ECO-Culture agro-industrial holding.

The businessman presented a project for the construction of a greenhouse complex with an area of 500 hectares in the Turkistan region. The investment project involves the creation of more than 8,000 jobs. The planned implementation period is 5 years.

The Head of Government noted the uniqueness of the project within the CIS space.

“The agro-industrial complex has always been the most important industry for us, which has great potential for further development, taking into account rising prices and demand for agricultural products. The implementation of such a large project is of particular importance for us,” said Alikhan Smailov.

It should be noted that the ECO-Culture agro-industrial holding has been operating since 2012. The main activity of the company is greenhouse vegetable growing with a year-round production cycle. The Holding includes operating greenhouse complexes in several regions of Russia.

“South Kazakhstan is an excellent place both in terms of climatic conditions and the availability of labor resources. For the implementation of this project, it was not by chance that we paid attention to the Turkistan region. There are good weather conditions, so you can safely go through the winter in film greenhouses. It will be a greenhouse cluster on 500 hectares, where we will grow not only vegetables, but also herbs and berries,” Rudakov informed.

Also, the head of the agricultural holding expressed his intention to provide agronomic support to local farmers for a greater synergistic effect, as well as to create a training center for the training of relevant personnel.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed on a thorough study of issues regarding the provision of engineering infrastructure, investment subsidies and project financing.
