August 22 in Ukimet Uyi the Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev chaired a meeting of the Higher Scientific and Technical Commission under the Government of Kazakhstan.

At the meeting, the annual national report on science for the past year was heard and discussed, as well as issues of program-targeted funding for research and grant financing of science for 2019-2021 was considered.

In their speeches, President of the National Academy of Sciences Murat Zhurinov and Minister of Education and Science Yerlan Sagadiyev spoke about the priority directions of science development in 2017. Among them are the rational use of natural resources, processing of raw materials and products, energy and engineering, information and telecommunications technology, the science of life, the intellectual potential of the country.

Following the meeting, the annual national report on science will be submitted to the Head of State for consideration.
