The main events of the week from 14 to 19 May 2018.

Last week, May 17-19, the XI Astana Economic Forum took place in Astana.

May 17, the Head of State N. Nazarbayev participated in the Plenary Session of the AEF "World of Global Challenges."

May 16, on the eve of the opening of the AEF, a high-level discussion took place within the framework of the regional meeting of the IMF and the National Bank.

May 17, Bakytzhan Sagintayev took part in the panel session of the AEF "Green Economy: A New Model of Sustainable Growth."

On the same day, B. Sagintayev held a meeting of the Board of Directors of JSC NMH Baiterek at the AEF.

May 18, the Plenary Session of the AEF "Practice of Global Change" was held.

May 18, within the framework of the AEF, the second meeting of the International Expert Council on Digitalization was held with the participation of the Prime Minister B. Sagintayev. The first meeting was held in Almaty in February this year.

May 19, on the final day of the forum, the Strategic Session was held, during which brainstorming sessions were held in six areas of development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Issues of implementing breakthrough projects and decisions on the following priorities were discussed: institutions and economic policy, human capital, digitalization and information technologies, new money and financial sector, clean energy and green technologies, urban development.

Within the framework of the AEF, Prime Minister Sagintayev held a number of meetings with famous scientists, politicians and businessmen. Among them are President of the Global Green Growth Institute Ban Ki-moon, physicist and futurist Michio Kaku, political analyst Parag Khanna, CEO of Yandex Arkady Volozh, Co-Founder of Apple Steve Wozniak, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Tao Zhang, Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Jurgen Rigterink and others.

Also last week, Prime Minister B. Sagintayev chaired a regular meeting of the Government. The results of socio-economic development and implementation of the republican budget for four months of 2018, on the implementation of the IV level of the budget and municipal property of local self-government, the results of the heating season 2017-2018 and preparation for the upcoming heating season were discussed.
