Alikhan Smailov holds Commission meeting on return of illegally acquired assets

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held a meeting of the Commission on the return of illegally acquired assets to the state.

Within the framework of the meeting the issues of inclusion of new persons, for whom verification activities will be initiated, in the relevant register were discussed.

It is planned to conclude a procedural agreement on pleading guilty and voluntary return of illegally acquired assets for some of the persons previously included in the register.

In addition, lawsuits will be filed to force the property of unexplained origin of certain subjects of the register and their affiliates to be returned to the state.

Prime Minister emphasized that the decision of the Head of State on the return of illegally acquired assets is a continuation of the process of building "Fair Kazakhstan". Thus, for 2 years assets worth about 1 trillion tenge have been returned to the country.

To date, as part of the large-scale work identified 344 objects of movable and immovable property, including 131 objects overseas. Data on securities worth 448 billion tenge have been obtained. Bank transactions worth 220 trillion tenge are being studied, including suspicious transactions worth 1.4 trillion tenge.

"Our common task is to ensure the return of illegally withdrawn assets and use them for the benefit of society and the state," Alikhan Smailov emphasized.

Following the results of the discussion, the Prime Minister gave the necessary instructions to the state bodies.
