July 10 at the meeting of the Government chaired by the Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev, the results of socio-economic development for the six months of 2018 were considered.
Minister of Energy Kanat Bozumbayev reported that in the first half of 2018, the main indicators of the fuel and energy sector show positive growth dynamics.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the volume of oil and condensate production amounted to 45.2 million tons, which shows an increase of 6.2% compared to the same period last year.
"Oil production on the three major projects amounted to 27.2 million tons, including Kashagan — 6.2 million tons (177.1%), Tengiz — 14.7 million tons (100.7%), Karachaganak — 6.3 million tons (100%)," Bozumbayev said.
Export of oil amounted to 36.5 million tons or 105.8% compared to the last year’s indicators. The volume of oil processing reached 7.7 million tons, showing an increase of 5%. Thus, the volume of production of petroleum products at the three refineries amounted to 5.4 million tons, the indicators improved by 1.5%.
"In general, the situation on the market of petroleum products is stable and there is no deficit on fuel and lubricants. Number of fuel residues is sufficient to cover the needs of the domestic market in the monthly amount of gasoline — 351 thousand tons, diesel fuel — 255 thousand tons, which is enough for a month," said Bozumbayev.
For spring sowing of agricultural producers, 375 thousand tons were delivered (from the Atyrau Refinery — 92.3 thousand tons, from Pavlodar Oil Chemistry Refinery — 195.6 thousand tons and from PetroKazakhstan — 87.1 thousand tons).
The volume of gas production was 28.1 billion cubic meters, growth for the first half of the year was 6.4%.
"Gas export amounted to 10.7 bcm, which is 35.4% more than in the previous year. Nearly 1.5 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas were produced, which is 4.8% more,” Bozumbayev emphasized.
Petroleum bitumen production was 375 thousand tons (104% of the plan in 2018), which is 30% more than it was last year in the first half. The export of bitumen amounted to 23.8 thousand tons, which is 19% higher than the norm for 2017.
During the six months of 2018, 37 million tons of coal were delivered to the domestic market.
Electricity generation amounted to 54.5 billion kWh, an increase of 7.3%. The volume of coal production (excluding coal concentrate) amounted to 52 million tons, showing an increase of 5.1% compared to the same period last year.
