Government considers measures to stabilize prices for socially important food products

At the meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev, issues of pricing and measures to stabilize the cost of socially important food products were considered.

The Minister of National Economy Timur Suleimenov reported on the situation with prices for socially important food products.

"The joint work of the ministries and akimats within the framework of the concluded memorandums, allowed reducing the dynamics of the growth of the consumer price index for socially important food products to 0.6% and 0.9% in April and May, from 1.2% in January-March. At the same time, an increase in the consumer price index to 1.9% is observed in June," T. Suleimenov noted.

In turn, the First Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Aytuganov reported on the work of the stabilization funds. Akimats concluded memorandums to prevent the growth of prices for socially important foodstuffs.

Akims of Karaganda, West Kazakhstan regions and Astana city Y. Koshanov, A. Kulginov and A. Isekeshev made reports on the situation in the regions.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Myrzakhmetov noted that the akimats have all the possibilities for stabilizing prices for socially significant products. Regions need to start purchasing new crop output in stabilization funds.

Summing up the consideration of the meeting, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev instructed the akimats to step up efforts to stabilize prices for socially important food products.

The Ministries of the National Economy and Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan were instructed to ensure constant monitoring of price dynamics.

Government agencies, in conjunction with akimats, must take measures to saturate regional food markets and develop trade infrastructure as a matter of priority.
