Local police service demonstrates high efficiency – MIA RK

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erlan Turgumbayev during a press conference in the press center of the Government spoke about the results of the work of the local police service created within the framework of the implementation of the "100 Concrete Steps".

Erlan Turgumbayev said that within the framework of the implementation of the 30th Step of the Nation’s Plan, from January 1, 2016, a local police service has been set up in the country. The main tasks of the local police service are the protection of public order, combating street and domestic crime, ensuring road safety, preventing offenses and creating the principle of "zero tolerance" for minor offenses in society.

According to the Deputy Minister, the competence of local executive bodies in matters of the local police service has been legislatively expanded. The akims are entitled to set tasks to ensure the protection of public order, and, with the consent of the maslikhat deputies, to carry out the appointment and release of its leaders.

At the same time, the speaker noted that the heads of the local police service are required to report at least twice a year to the akimats and maslikhats, once a year to the population.

"In general, the accountability of the local police in the regions to the akims allowed for more flexible coordination of its work, taking into account local peculiarities and problems, and also to organize proper interaction of the police with other state bodies. This also had a positive impact on the transparency of the work of the police, as the local community, represented by the maslikhat deputies, takes a direct part in organizing its activities," said Erlan Turgumbayev.

Also, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported that the use of video recorders gives positive results in the work of police officers. So, from the beginning of 2017 in the republic, with the help of video recorders installed on patrol vehicles, more than 100 thousand offenses were recorded, the record of which is used as evidence in the courts.
