About 300 Kazakhstanis moved from radical to traditional religion in 2017

Minister of Religious Affairs and Civil Society Nurlan Yermekbayev, during a briefing in the Government of Kazakhstan,  reported that this year they managed to achieve the transition to the traditional religion of about 300 people who had previously been on radical positions.

These results were achieved thanks to the work of information and explanatory groups, the composition of which was reformatted this year. The Minister also expressed confidence that in the long term many more people will be able to reorient the right way.

"This work should be strengthened. We are not satisfied with these figures," N. Yermekbayev emphasized.

In addition, at a press conference the Minister announced the alleged date for the adoption of the Law "On Amendments and Additions to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Religious Activities and Religious Associations".

So, the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan plans to introduce a bill in November 2017, so that in December, with the support of deputies, it would be adopted.

He also said that when developing amendments to the legislation, the experience of about 50 countries of the world was studied.

"Each state has its own specificity. We have already said that Kazakhstan should not copy the experience of any state. Because our situation is unique - we have our own traditions, our own history. Therefore, we will, on the basis of foreign experience, develop our own model of relations between the state and religion," the Minister summed up.
