Bakytzhan Sagintayev holds a meeting with representatives of the International Monetary Fund

Today in Ukimet Uyi Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with the Mission Chief for Kazakhstan of the International Monetary Fund Mark Horton.

During the meeting, issues of interaction with the IMF on macroeconomic and fiscal policy, and the activities of the banking sector were discussed. In addition, the parties discussed the implementation of the large-scale programs Nurly Zhol and the Plan of the Nation "100 Concrete Steps", the privatization program and the prospects of the project Astana International Financial Centre.

In the first years of independence, the Republic of Kazakhstan used its right to receive material assistance from the IMF. Thanks to the positive dynamics of the economy, the Republic of Kazakhstan repaid its obligations under the IMF credit lines on May 24, 2000.

At the moment, Kazakhstan does not plan to borrow from the IMF. The focus of the country's interaction with the Fund is shifted towards attracting technical assistance, taking into account the IMF's experience in working with the best consultants in the world in the field of macroeconomics, monetary and fiscal policy.
