Bakytzhan Sagintayev holds a meeting with King of Jordan, Abdullah II bin Hussein

Today, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with King of Jordan, Abdullah II bin Hussein in Astana.

During the meeting, issues of expansion of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries were discussed. Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the field of agriculture, livestock, vegetable growing, renewable energy, as well as defense industry and logistics.

For reference: Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Jordan were established in February, 1993. The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Jordan in January-August of 2017 amounted to $253.8 thousand, of which $252.4 thousand is accounted for imports in Kazakhstan. The reason of growth in imports is the increased purchase of medicines from Jordan. In the period from 2005 to the first half of 2017, the inflow of investments from Jordan into the economy of Kazakhstan amounted to $10.8 million.

The agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on the promotion and mutual protection of investments was signed on November 29, 2006, in Amman. As of October 1, 2017, 82 legal entities and representative offices with the participation of Jordanian capital were registered in Kazakhstan.
