Today, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Bakytzhan Sagintayev took part in the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Tashkent.
Before the event, in the evening of November 2, Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on issues of development of trade and economic cooperation and implementation of joint projects in the transit-transport, agriculture, energy spheres.

Within the framework of the meeting, topical issues of economic interaction and creation of conditions that ensure the strengthening of trade and economic relations of the CIS member countries were discussed in a narrow format. In particular, the measures to eliminate trade barriers and uncover the potential of trade and cooperation were considered.
At the meeting in an extended format, the heads of Government delegations discussed the implementation of the CIS Free Trade Agreement, the development of oil and gas machinery, land reclamation, control of the customs value of goods, measures for effective counteraction to international cartels, etc. A number of organizational documents were also considered. In addition, it was decided to hold a regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS in the spring of 2018 in the Republic of Tajikistan.
Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev also held a meeting with Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdullah Aripov, on the implementation of the agreements concluded between the presidents of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The sides discussed the issues of building up bilateral cooperation, strengthening interregional cooperation, primarily between the border regions. Special attention was paid to increasing the volume of trade. In particular, measures to expand investment cooperation in the areas of engineering, automotive, civil aviation, pharmaceuticals, development of transit and transport infrastructure, as well as prospects for joint work in the military-technical and aerospace spheres were considered.

In addition, amendments were added to some agreements on the rules for determining the country of origin of goods in the CIS, the harmonization of requirements for additional training and the professional competence of international road carriers, and the coordination transport meeting of States.
For reference: This year, the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan marks 25 years. In 2018, the Year of Uzbekistan will be held in Kazakhstan. The foreign trade turnover between the two countries for the eight months of 2017 amounted to $1.2 billion (exports - $747 million), the growth to the indicators for the same period last year was 31%.
