Today within the framework of the briefing at the press center of the Government, the Vice Minister of Culture and Sports, Aktoty Raimkulova told about the results of the international zhamby atu tournament "Altyn Zhebe".

In the city of Astana, within the framework of Expo-2017 at the Kazanat racetrack, the International zhamby atu tournament "Altyn Zhebe" was held for the first time. 19 sportsmen from 11 countries of the world took part in the competition, including Malaysia, Turkey, Poland, Germany, Romania, Qatar, Mongolia and China. And the honor of Kazakhstan was defended by five athletes. The total prize fund was 4.5 million tenge.

As the Vice Minister noted, this game aroused great interest among foreign athletes. The first place in the tournament was taken by an athlete from Romania – Mihai Kuzmi. Kazakhstani athlete Sarybay Aitbek took the second place, and third place went to another Kazakhstani, Aikoz Yeralkhan.

"I would especially like to mention the team of cowboys from the USA. They came to the Expo as tourists. Then they became interested in our national games, in particular, zhamby atu. They created their own team. Now they plan to come to the next championship," A.Raimkulova said.

In general, as the Vice Minister noted, the zhamby atu game acquires an international dimension. Starting in 2013, the Association for the Development of National Games of the Turkic World has been operating in Astana, which is engaged in the promotion of the zhamby atu in the world. It includes Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan.

According to A. Raimkulova, these competitions primarily bear the propagandizing and unifying role.
