Kazakhstan and Qatar expanding trade and investment cooperation

Within the framework of the Kazakh-Qatar Investment Business Forum held on December 14, 2017 in Doha (the State of Qatar), the Kazakh-Qatar Investment Business Forum signed a Memorandum between the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Qatar on the establishment of the Business Council.

The Ministry for Investments and Development of Kazakhstan, the Atameken NCE, the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Qatar were the organizers from the Kazakh side, and the Qatari Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Qatar.

Within the framework of the business forum, the Kazakh delegation presented Kazakhstan's investment projects, and the export potential of Kazakhstani production (including agricultural and food products, considering that up to 90% of commodities are supplied to Qatar from abroad).

Also, the Kazakh delegation took part in the exhibition "Made in Qatar", which is held under the patronage of the Emir of Qatar, where it was presented by the national stand.

The Memorandum between the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Qatar on the creation of the Business Council between Kazakhstan and Qatar was signed on the fields of the exhibition, the purpose of which is the development of trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Also within the framework of the forum, a bilateral meeting of the Vice Minister for Investments and Development of Kazakhstan, Y. Khairov with the Minister of Economy and Trade of Qatar, co-chairman of the Qatari part of the IGC, Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim al-Thani was held. During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for bilateral economic cooperation. Ways of developing trade partnership between the two countries were proposed. The Qatar side was presented with investment opportunities, state support measures for joint implementation of investment projects in the territory of Kazakhstan in such potential sectors as agribusiness, energy, infrastructure, transport and logistics projects.

In addition, the Qatari side expressed interest in participating in the privatization program and PPP.

Within the framework of the Kazakh-Qatar business forum, a meeting was held between the Vice Minister for Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Y. Khairov and the President of the Alfardan Group, Omar Al-Fardan.
