B. Sagintayev to participate in EAEU forum Digital Agenda in the Era of Globalization and EIGC meeting in Almaty

Today in Almaty the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev will take part in the EAEU international forum Digital Agenda in the Era of Globalization and the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

Today, on 2 February in Almaty, on the initiative of the Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev, the forum Digital Agenda in the Era of Globalization will be held. Within the framework of this forum, topical issues of innovation and technological entrepreneurship development, basic integration projects, digitalization of industry and digital transformation of agriculture in the Eurasian economic union will be discussed.

The Prime Ministers of Armenia – K. Karapetyan, Belarus – A. Kobyakov, Kazakhstan – B. Sagintayev, Kyrgyzstan – S. Isakov, Russia – D. Medvedev, as well as official delegations of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan will take part in the work of the Forum.

Recall that in October 2017, during the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the heads of the EAEU member states approved the main directions of the digital agenda until 2025, and also supported the initiative of the President Nursultan Nazarbayev to hold a special meeting on the digitization of the economy of the EAEU.

In the second half of the day Bakytzhan Sagintayev will take part in the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in a narrow and enlarged format.

The event is expected to involve Prime Ministers of the Republic of Armenia – K. Karapetyan, the Republic of Belarus – A. Kobyakov, the Kyrgyz Republic – S. Isakov, the Russian Federation – D. Medvedev, and the Chairman of the Board of Eurasian Economic Commission, T. Sarkisyan.

In a narrow composition, it is planned to consider the issues of the digital agenda, as well as the obligations of the participating countries within the functioning of the internal market.

At the enlarged meeting, the participants will discuss the macroeconomic situation and the state of mutual trade between the EAEU member states, consider joint prospects for the development of the agro-industrial complex, industry and pension issues for the workers of the EAEU member states.

Following the meeting, it is planned to adopt a number of documents.

For reference: The upcoming meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council is to be the first this year. In 2017, similar events were held in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), Kazan (Russia), Astana (Kazakhstan) and Yerevan (Armenia).
