Today in Astana Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon who is in the country on an official visit.
Issues of current state and expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the countries in the fields of energy, agriculture, transport, transboundary water use, civil aviation, migration, health, culture, education and science were discussed during the meeting. In addition, perspective directions of interregional relations, direct contacts between business structures of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, as well as issues of export potential of the two countries were considered.
As is known, yesterday, on March 14, the Head of State N. Nazarbayev held a meeting with the President of Tajikistan E. Rahmon in narrow and extended formats. During the meetings, issues of bilateral cooperation and prospects for their further development were discussed.
For reference: Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan were established on 07.01.1993. Tajikistan is Kazakhstan's second major trading partner in the Central Asian region, which accounts for about 20% of total trade with the countries of the region.
Commodity turnover for January-December 2017 amounted to $776.3 million, which is 31.5% higher than for the same period of the last year ($590.2 million). Export from Kazakhstan to Tajikistan for 2017 increased by 23.3% and amounted to $458.7 million.
