Bakytzhan Sagintayev instructed to allocate additional 2 billion tenge for stabilization of flood situation in EKR

Today during the Government meeting the Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev raised the issue of the flood situation in the East Kazakhstan region.

Bakytzhan Sagintayev recalled that at the last meeting of the Government the issue of the flood situation in the East Kazakhstan region was considered and instructions were given to keep the situation under control and provide all the necessary assistance to the affected people.

Minister of Internal Affairs, K. Kassymov, reported on the current situation in the East Kazakhstan region, measures taken and assistance provided to the affected population, including the provision of medical and other housing and communal support in places of temporary settlement.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, over 1500 houses were flooded in 50 settlements in the country as a whole. More than 3800 people were evacuated. The causes of flooding are a sharp warming and an excess 3 times of the norm of precipitation. Thanks to the measures taken, 1100 houses were released from the water, over 2700 people were returned home.

"A complicated situation has developed in the East Kazakhstan region. To date, there are 396 houses and 185 households left under water. In this regard, a local emergency has been declared in Semey, Ayagoz, Zyryanovsk and Shemonaikh. Over 1000 people, 200 units of equipment, 96 motor pumps and 8 boats were sent for emergency rescue and urgent work," K. Kassymov said.

8 pieces of equipment and a mobile power station were sent from the state material reserve to the East Kazakhstan area. Today in Karaganda, Akmola, Kostanay, Pavlodar and South-Kazakhstan regions, a complex flood situation is also brewing. In these areas and in the East Kazakhstan region, a storm warning has been announced. In this regard, according to the Minister of Internal Affairs, local executive bodies should be ready to take effective measures.

The Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev noted that an additional 2 billion tenge will be allocated from the republican budget for solving the flood issues of the East Kazakhstan region.

Akim of the East Kazakhstan region, Danial Akhmetov, in his turn, reported on the flood situation in the region.

"For today the regime of a state of natural emergency is announced in Ayagoz, Glubokovsky, Shemonaihinsky, Zyryanovskiy districts of the region and the city of Semey. The situation is under my personal control," said Danial Akhmetov.

Today 570 units of equipment are involved in the liquidation of flood hazards, 3107 people were involved in public works. There are special commissions for evaluating the damage. Currently, the restoration work is underway.
