August 8 in Ukimet Uyi Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev met with the Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce Doris Bradbury.
The main issues of intellectual property protection were discussed at the meeting. In particular, the results of the work of the Interdepartmental Working Group on Development of Proposals for Identification and Suppression of Intellectual Property Offenses and Crimes were considered. The topics of application of the "patent binding" principle in the registration of medicines, issues of patenting IT solutions, improving the system of collective management of copyright and related rights, as well as protecting the rights to intellectual property were also touched upon.
The Working Group on Development of Proposals for Identification and Suppression of Intellectual Property Offenses and Crimes was established in 2014.
The Working Group included representatives of interested state bodies, Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, members of the Council for Improving the Investment Climate represented by the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan, as well as representatives of the Society of Businessmen of Kazakhstan and Turkey, foreign software companies in the field of software maintenance, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.
Since the creation of the Working Group, ten meetings have been held in the format of videoconferencing with the connection of the chamber’s representatives and foreign rights holders from Almaty.
