At the meeting of the Government Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev, out of the planned agenda, raised a topical issue related to the consequences of the previous downpour in Astana.

"As you know, the last two days due to the unusual weather for the capital and long rains, a number of streets and pedestrian crossings have been flooded in the city. As a result – restrictions and complicated traffic, injured pedestrians and car owners, interruptions in the work of public transport.

The Head of State has repeatedly criticized this issue. There is an appropriate instruction for the complete solution of the storm sewage system.

I remind you that the akimat bears full responsibility for the situation in the city, and therefore for its readiness for this kind of weather conditions and the efficiency of the city services.

I want to emphasize – the city residents should not suffer from such dishonest work of public services. Floods of Momyshuly Avenue, intersections of Turan Avenue and Uly Dala Street, Barayeva and Molodezhny micro-districts are systemic. According to weather forecasts, rain can be protracted.

I instruct the Akimat of the city of Astana: in the near future take the necessary measures to prevent such situations, strengthen the work of public services.

The problem is that flooding does not happen on all the streets of Astana, but from year to year they repeat on the same ones. On Momyshuly Avenue the bus with passengers was stuck and was flooded with water. Therefore, in such difficult streets, it is necessary, first of all, to take measures to prevent such a situation. The problem, which the public and residents of the city are talking about, is precisely this.

It is necessary to take on special control the issues of timely cleaning of storm structures, water intake wells and develop a set of measures for organizing and installing storm drainage structures in problematic areas of the city where flooding happens ‘systematically," said Bakytzhan Sagintayev.
