Over 18 billion cubic meters of gas produced in Kazakhstan in the first quarter of 2021 — Nurlan Nogayev

Minister of Energy Nurlan Nogayev reported on the results of socio-economic development for the first quarter of this year at the government session chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin.

“The volume of oil and condensate production for the specified period amounted to 28.1 million tons, 99.4% of the plan for January-April of this year. The reason for the decrease in oil and condensate production by the plan of the reporting period was unscheduled repair work at the Karachaganak field, which took place in April this year,” Nurlan Nogayev said.

He named the indicators for large companies in the oil and gas industry.

In Tengiz, 9 million tons of oil were produced in the specified period, which corresponds to the plan of the reporting month of 100.1%. North Caspian project: the volume of oil production at Kashagan is 4.9 million tons, that is, the plan for January-April has been fulfilled by 100%.

The indicator of the Karachaganak project is 4 million tons, compared to the plan for four months of this year. this is 96.3%, i.e. 152 thousand tons lower than the volume of production. During the reporting period, 22.1 million tons of oil were exported, the plan for January-April of this year was fulfilled by 100%.

During the reporting period, gas was produced in the amount of 18.1 billion cubic meters, which was 100% of the plan for four months of this year.

The volume of domestic consumption of commercial gas amounted to 7.8 billion cubic meters, this figure was fulfilled by 110% against the plan for January-April of this year.

The volume of production of liquefied petroleum gas amounted to 1.07 million tons, which is 102.3% to the plan of the reporting period.

The volume of exported gas amounted to 2.87 billion cubic meters, reaching 100.3% against the plan of the reporting period.

According to the results of January-April of this year more than 4.1 million tons of petroleum products were produced, this figure is 105.4% to the plan of the reporting period, including:

  • the indicator for motor gasoline amounted to 1.5 million tons, i.e. 105% to the plan,
  • the volume of diesel fuel production amounted to 1.5 million tons, which is 100% to the plan of the reporting months,
  • the indicator for aviation fuel amounted to 170 thousand tons, i.e. 103.1% to the plan.

As for the production of fuel oil, its indicator is equal to 912 thousand tons and amounted to 120% of the plan.

At the same time, during the reporting period, bitumen production reached 200 thousand tons, i.e. 87% to the plan of the reporting period.

“The reason that the production of bitumen was below the plan of the reporting period was that in January-April of 2021, gas supplies to Gazpromneft-Bitumen were limited due to a sharp drop in weather temperatures below normal,” said the head of the Ministry of Energy.

To resolve this issue, KazTransGas JSC began work on the reconstruction of the Lenger outlet line of the Shymkent-4 AGDS and plans to complete it by August 1, 2021.

After the completion of these works, the issue of natural gas supply to Gazpromneft-Bitumen LLP in the autumn-winter period will be fully resolved.

In order to provide the domestic market with petroleum products, the Atyrau oil refinery operates on the fuel option until September of this year, and since September 2021 plans to manufacture petrochemical products.

“At the same time, I note that the bulk of the production of petrochemical products, incl. benzene and paraxylene, falls on the Atyrau refinery," added Nogayev.

During the reporting period, 40 billion kWh of electricity was generated, i.e. the plan is 100% fulfilled.

At the end of the first quarter, the volume of electricity generated by renewable energy facilities amounted to 0.8 billion kWh, which is 100% of the plan.
