Askar Mamin meets with Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Ville Skinnari

Prime Minister Askar Mamin held a meeting with Minister for Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Finland Ville Skinnari.

The parties discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, investment, energy, transport and logistics spheres, education, healthcare, digitalization, development of a green economy and environmental protection.

Over the past 15 years, Finland has invested $366 million in the economy of Kazakhstan. the trade turnover between the countries increased 3.4 times compared to the same period in 2020, amounting to $111.2 million.

The Head of Government noted the presence of great potential for further increasing the volume of bilateral trade and the implementation of joint investment projects in the areas of digital technologies, agro-industrial complex, waste processing and the development of a green economy.

In 2020, despite the pandemic, the volume of railroad transportation of goods in containers on the Finland - China route in transit through the territory of Kazakhstan reached 5.2 thousand TEUs, which is 11% more than in 2019. this indicator, compared to the same period in 2020, increased by 10%, amounting to 738 TEU.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Magzum Mirzagaliyev, Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Bagdat Mussin, Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Beibut Atamkulov, as well as the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Finland Zhanna Sartbaeva.

During Minister Skinnari's visit to Kazakhstan, the protocol of the 11th meeting of the Kazakh-Finnish Intergovernmental Commission was signed, providing for deepening cooperation in such areas as trade, finance, energy, transport, agro-industrial complex, education, healthcare, rational use of forest and water resources.

In addition, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, KaukoInternational Oy Ltd and the Kazakh-Finnish Technology Center, providing for the strengthening and development of cooperation in the spheres of ecology, forestry and fisheries, waste processing and water resources management.
