The 10th meeting of the Kazakh-Chinese Committee on Cooperation took place online today. The meeting was co-chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov and Deputy Prime Minister of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Han Zheng.
During the meeting, the parties summed up the work of 12 subcommittees of the Committee in the areas of security, customs, transport, railway, trade and economic, water management, energy, scientific and technical, financial, cultural, humanitarian, environmental and geological cooperation.
One of the main topics of discussion was the provision of favorable conditions for cargo transportation. Alikhan Smailov proposed to increase the throughput of the existing border crossings and resume the work of the still closed automobile checkpoints of Kalzhat-Dulaty and Maykapchagai-Zimunai.
In addition, Alikhan Smailov proposed to increase the number of freight trains passed from Kazakhstan to 18 units per day at the Dostyk-Alashankou and Altynkol-Khorgos stations, as well as to remove restrictions on the acceptance of all cargo.
The Kazakh side proposed to resume the issuance of entry visas for citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including students, as well as to resume regular flights between Kazakhstan and China.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to actively work on increasing the passage of goods between Kazakhstan and the PRC.
Following the meeting, a Protocol was signed.
