Alikhan Smailov inspects CHP-3 and two new gas thermal systems in Astana

On Saturday, August 12, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov familiarized himself with the progress of construction of CHPP-3 and gas thermal stations (GTS) "Turan" and "South-East" in Astana.

Currently, the works at CHPP-3 are 90% complete. Already in the current year it is planned to gradually launch all 4 boilers (gas), which will give the capital an increase in capacity of 440 Gcal/h.

At the site, the shareholder of CAEC JSC Sergey Kan reported to the Prime Minister on the progress of construction, commissioning and solution of current technical issues.

Alikhan Smailov emphasized that the project is of great social importance and its implementation is under the control of the Head of State.

"It is very important that in the upcoming heating season you put boiler after boiler into operation and give additional heat to the city. Akimat needs to take all necessary measures for the timely launch of the facility," he said.

Then Prime Minister visited the gas heating station "Turan", which will provide the capital with additional heat supply in the amount of about 350 Gcal/h. It was reported that the project has been provided with the necessary financing, the works are on schedule.

Further, the government delegation inspected the construction of the gas heating plant "South-East" with a capacity of 350 Gcal/h, which is to cover the left-bank district.

"The construction is going according to the plan. We will monitor its progress and fulfillment of deadlines, as this issue is extremely important for Astana residents during the winter period," Alikhan Smailov pointed out.

In general, the advantage of the new GTS is the small boilers, which allow economical consumption of natural gas. In addition to gas, they are also designed to work with diesel.

"We have two gas boilers and a new CHPP plant being launched now. This will give the city about 1100 Gcal/h of heat already in the upcoming heating season, that is, we are going with a surplus. Next year it is also planned to realize additional gas boiler houses to ensure stable heat supply of the capital for the future," Alikhan Smailov said.
