All conditions for people with special needs should be provided in new sports complexes — Alikhan Smailov

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov visited the construction of the National Research Center for Infectious Diseases and the Center for Innovative Creativity of Schoolchildren, as well as the new sports complex "CHAMPION" as part of a working visit to Almaty.

Construction of the National Research Center of Infectious Diseases for 350 beds is scheduled to be completed in late 2023. In addition to the hospital, it will house research and training centers, laboratories, departments of medical universities, etc.

The new center will provide qualified medical care in the field of infectious diseases, pulmonology and phthisiology, conduct research and training, concentrate advanced medical technologies, and test drugs. In addition, on the basis of the new facility it is planned to open a situation center to monitor the epidemiological situation in the country.

The Prime Minister noted that, according to the WHO, every year 2 billion people fall ill with infectious diseases and more than 50 million people die.

"The opening of the center will reduce morbidity and mortality not only from tuberculosis, but also in general from other infectious, including particularly dangerous diseases. The Almaty Akimat should keep the issue of opening of the center under special control," Alikhan Smailov said.

Deputy Akim of Almaty Assem Nusupova has reported that within the health sector development by 2025 it is planned to construct 16 polyclinics according to the polycentric principle where the single standard of primary health care will be introduced for the first time in the country. This will ensure the accessibility of primary health care services for more than 300 thousand people.

In addition, by 2030 the infrastructure of 25 existing multiprofile and specialized hospitals will be modernized in stages. It is also planned to create special centers on the basis of 5 multi-specialty hospitals (neurosurgery, stroke center, endoprosthetics, traumatology and orthopedics) and to implement a number of other steps.

Then Prime Minister visited a under-construction Center of Innovative creativity of schoolchildren, where children and teenagers under 18 will be able to get an additional education. Here it will be possible to engage in clubs in such areas as science and technology, music, art, language and sports development. A room for psychological and pedagogical correction will also be opened at the center.

Alikhan Smailov emphasized that the akimat of the city should continue to strengthen leadership in the field of supplementary education: expand the network of appropriate centers, increase the coverage of schoolchildren free hobby groups, sports clubs, and neighborhood clubs.

Another point of Prime Minister's working trip was a visit to a new sports complex "CHAMPION", built under the charitable initiative. It has a swimming pool, games and exercise rooms, five fitness areas, a cafe, etc. The capacity of the complex is 700 people per day.

The project is implemented to organize various training and competition events, and provide everyone, especially children from socially vulnerable groups, with an opportunity to go in for sports.

Alikhan Smailov noted that attracting private investment to such social projects is extremely important, as it contributes to strengthening Almaty as a city with a pronounced culture of healthy living.

"The citizens have a good attitude toward sports. Year after year, the number of people engaging in physical activity in general is increasing. This trend needs to be supported. The Akimat should also pay attention to adults and children with special needs. All necessary conditions for sports and rehabilitation must be provided for them in the sports complexes being built," the Prime Minister pointed out.
