Growth for 11 months in light industry amounted to 15.5% — Beibut Atamkulov

At the government session chaired by the Prime Minister Askar Mamin during consideration of the results of the country's socio-economic development in January-November 2020, the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Beibut Atamkulov presented his report.

At the end of 11 months of 2020, a positive trend continued in the manufacturing industry. Growth is observed in virtually all sectors of the industry.

The machine-building industry maintains stable growth at the level of 116.4%. The increase was due to the production of vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, the production of other vehicles, electrical equipment, machinery and equipment. Positive dynamics is also observed in non-ferrous metallurgy. The growth was 102.2%.

“The volumes of refined gold, gold in ingots, silver in granules, doré alloy, primary aluminum and others have been increased. In ferrous metallurgy, growth was recorded at the level of 100.4%. The volume of production of reinforcing bars, ferrosilicomanganese, commercial output of fittings, balls and round timber has been increased. The pharmaceutical industry maintains a high production volume at 139.5%, fully covering the needs of the domestic market for essential goods,” Atamkulov said.

In light industry, growth was 15.5% due to an increase in the production of textiles, clothing and leather products. In the production of paper and paper products, volumes increased by 14.6%. In the production of wood and cork products, an increase of 47.3% was provided.

“The volume index for transport in January-November 2020 amounted to 82.9%. Despite the decrease in traffic in the traditional segments, we managed to achieve a positive trend in the transit traffic of container cargo. Compared to the same period last year, 799.7 thousand TEUs were transported, an increase of 136%,’’ the minister emphasized.

The volume of freight traffic by all modes of transport amounted to 3.6 billion tons, or 93.2% of the previous year. The volume index for construction in January-November 2020 amounted to 112.1%. Positive dynamics is observed in 15 regions.

In terms of housing construction, following the results of 11 months, more than 12.1 million square meters of housing were commissioned, which is 109.3% over the same period in 2019.

To date, more than 106 thousand dwellings have been commissioned throughout the republic. An increase in the volume of housing commissioning in comparison with last year is noted in 15 regions.

The ministry is taking all the necessary measures to contain the spread of the recession to a wider range of industries and stabilize the situation in the most affected industries in order to implement the tasks set for 2020. All planned indicators and indicators will be achieved at the end of the year.
