Development of domestic mechanical engineering considered by Government

Topical issues of mechanical engineering development were discussed at a Government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov with the participation of heads of state agencies, national companies and industry enterprises.

Thus, the participants discussed issues of developing a Comprehensive Development Plan for the machine-building industry and a Road Map for the development of wagon building, as well as measures to increase local content in manufactured products and improve the effectiveness of the commission on social tripartite partnership.

The Prime Minister supported the initiatives to support the industry. He noted that the development of local content should be stimulated by market instruments: off-take and offset contracts.

In addition, the creation of scientific and industrial clusters, providing machine-building enterprises with raw materials, available credit resources and other incentives were considered.

Alikhan Smailov ordered state bodies to elaborate them in details.

The reports were made by the heads of the Union of Machine-Builders of Kazakhstan Meiram Pshembaev, NC Kazakhstan Engineering JSC Temirzhan Abdrakhmanov, Kazenergokabel JSC Vladimir Bobrov, Atyrauneftemash LLP Temirlan Darkembaev, ZIKSTO JSC Renat Shamsutdinov.

The Prime Minister stressed that all the issues voiced will be kept under control at the end of the meeting.

"We have regular meetings. Periodically, some new issues arise: we address some of them immediately, while others require regulatory changes. A number of problematic issues need more detailed elaboration. We will try to solve these issues together with you," Alikhan Smailov said, referring to the domestic machine-builders.
