Development of National Project on modernisation of energy and utilities sectors to be completed by end of 2024 — Olzhas Bektenov

During the Government session under the chairmanship of Prime Minister, measures to implement the instructions of the Head of State given at the first Forum of Agricultural Workers were discussed. Deputy Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov reported on the ongoing work to pass the heating season.

To prepare for the heating period and improve the reliability of energy supply to consumers during the heating season, the Ministry of Energy has taken a number of measures: adjusted marginal tariffs for electricity, increased the annual limit of return investments. This allowed to increase the financing of repair works by 44% compared to last year's level, up to 327 billion tenge. 5.6 million tonnes of coal and 97,000 tonnes of fuel oil have been accumulated in the fuel depots of energy sources, which is in line with the norm.

According to the Ministry of Energy, repairs have been completed on 8 power units, 51 boilers and 38 turbines at power plants. At the final stages, repair work is being carried out on 2 power units, 4 boilers and 7 turbines. Also, 20.7 thousand kilometres of power transmission lines, 384 substations and 4054 distribution points and transformer substations have been repaired. 542 km of heating networks have been repaired.

Prime Minister noted the importance of prompt response and informing the population. For further development of the housing and communal services sector the Government is developing a national project on modernisation of the energy and communal sectors. Its implementation will reduce the wear and tear of engineering networks, large-scale renewal of infrastructure and reduce the risks of accidents.

"This is a strategically important task for the country, set by the Head of State, which must be clearly fulfilled. I instruct the Ministry of National Economy together with the interested state bodies to finalise the development of the National Project by the end of this year," Olzhas Bektenov stressed.
