Astana EXPO-2017 wind power station to reach full capacity of 100 MW by end of 2020

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin got acquainted with the work of the 1st start-up complex and the completion of construction of the 2nd start-up complex of the Astana EXPO-2017 wind farm in the village of Kostomar, Arshalyn district, Akmola region.

The launch of the 2nd start-up complex and the wind farm reaching its full design capacity of 100 MW are planned in the IV quarter of 2020 (the first 50 MW start-up complex was launched in August 2019).

Astana EXPO-2017 wind farm will provide annual energy consumption of more than 10 thousand families, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 230 thousand tons per year and save over 79 thousand tons of fuel per year. More than 300 people are involved in the construction of the facility, 20 local specialists are undergoing training for the operation of the wind farm.

Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar, Minister of Energy Nurlan Nogayev, Akim of Akmola Region Yermek Marzhikpaev, Chair of the Board of JSC Development Bank of Kazakhstan Abai Sarkulov and others took part in the working trip.
