Government considers proposals to reform construction industry

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, held a meeting on reforming the construction industry and improving its competitiveness.

In his report, the Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development, Yerkebulan Dauylbayev, noted that the development of mechanisms to improve the efficiency of the construction industry has prepared a package of legislative amendments.

So, due to introduction of new norms it is planned to expand possibilities of small and medium business to participate in state procurements, limit activity of illegal and unproductive subcontractors as well as unqualified licensees.

In addition, the market subjects are planned to provide equal opportunities in obtaining land plots, to improve the sphere of shared construction and to ensure decent wages throughout the industry.

It is expected that the adoption of legislative amendments will allow to more evenly distribute the volume of construction, to improve the quality and transparency of work.

The Prime Minister supported the bulk of the presented innovations and instructed the concerned government agencies to elaborate further those items, the implementation of which requires more detailed calculations.
