In Kazakhstan, previously projected tariffs for public utilities have been revised downward. This was announced by the Prime Minister at a government press conference. Olzhas Bektenov emphasized that the decision was made to reduce inflationary pressure and ensure social stability.
The containment of tariff growth rates was made possible by postponing some previously planned adjustments, attracting long-term financing, and revising the operating expenses of monopolies. As a result of the measures taken, a significant reduction in tariff growth rates has been achieved.
#Olzhas Bektenov #Housing and Utilities #Tariff"Tariff increases will continue. It is a painful and unpleasant issue. But the Government speaks openly about it and is pursuing a policy of bringing tariffs in line with market conditions. The situation where tariffs were heavily regulated for a very long time and did not allow for investment in public utilities led to what we saw in 2022 and 2023: accidents in Ekibastuz and Ridder. If we want our homes to be consistently warm in winter, to have electricity, water, and properly functioning utility networks, we will have to follow the path of increasing tariffs. As a result, the growth rate is expected to decrease from 35% to 20%. If there has already been an increase, no further rise will occur until the end of the year," the Prime Minister emphasized.
