In first nine months of 2025, Kazakhstan produced 75.7 million tons of oil and gas condensate – Ministry of Energy

At the Government session, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Akenzhenov reported on the current state of the fuel and energy sector for January–September 2025.

He noted that during this period, oil and gas condensate production amounted to 75.7 million tons, or 113.2% compared to the same period last year. The plan for 2025 is 96.2 million tons.

Oil exports for nine months amounted to 60.5 million tons, or 114.9% compared to the same period in 2024. The plan for 2025 is 70.5 million tons.

“For January–September of this year, petroleum product output totaled 11.6 million tons, or 110.1% compared to the same period last year. By the end of the year, it is planned to produce 13.7 million tons of petroleum products, or 100.7% compared to the actual result of 2024,” Yerlan Akenzhenov said.

It was noted that during the reporting period, 51.6 billion cubic meters of gas were produced, or 116.7% compared to the same period last year. The plan for 2025 is 62.8 billion cubic meters.

The volume of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production amounted to 2.3 million tons, or 101.1% compared to the first nine months of 2024.

The volume of gas transit through the country amounted to 53 billion cubic meters, or 102.9% compared to the same period last year.

According to the Ministry, petroleum product output for January–September this year totaled 11.6 million tons, or 110.1% compared to the same period last year. By the end of the year, it is planned to produce 13.7 million tons of petroleum products, or 100.7% compared to the 2024 figure (13.6 million tons).

The volume of petrochemical production amounted to 477.2 thousand tons, or 115.8% compared to the same period last year (412.2 thousand tons). The plan for 2025 is 589.7 thousand tons, or 109.2% compared to the 2024 result (540 thousand tons).

During the reporting period, 89.9 billion kWh of electricity were generated, or 102.5% compared to the same period last year (87.7 billion kWh). The plan for this year is 117.9 billion kWh.

For 2025, the commissioning of three traditional power facilities with a total capacity of 166 MW is planned. As of today, the construction of two gas turbine units (first phase) at Tekeli Energy Complex LLP has been successfully completed, with 24 MW of generation commissioned, and the replacement of outdated Turbine Unit No. 3 with a capacity of 130 MW at Topar Main Distribution Power Plant LLP has been completed.

By the end of the year, it is planned to commission the second phase of the gas turbine unit at Tekeli Energy Complex LLP with a capacity of 12 MW. In the first nine months, electricity generation from renewable energy sources amounted to 6.5 billion kWh, or 111.9% compared to the same period last year (5.8 billion kWh). The plan for this year is 7.2 billion kWh (2024 – 7.58 billion kWh).

The reason for the slight decrease: the 2025 forecast, compared to 2024, was formed with a downward adjustment, taking into account possible fluctuations in natural conditions and ongoing maintenance at existing power plants.
