So, according to him, thanks to the measures taken by the Government in a timely manner to preserve the stability of the economy, it was possible to achieve growth in almost all sectors of the economy supervised by the ministry.

At the end of 2020, a positive trend continued in the manufacturing industry.

“The engineering industry showed stable growth at the level of 116.3%. The increase was due to the production of vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, the production of other vehicles, electrical equipment, machinery and equipment,” Beibut Atamkulov noted.

There is also a positive trend in non-ferrous metallurgy. The growth was 2.8%. The volumes of refined gold, gold bullion, silver in granules, dore alloy, primary aluminum, etc. have been increased.

In ferrous metallurgy, growth was recorded at the level of 4.1%. The volume of production of reinforcing bars, rails, ferrosilicomanganese, commercial output of reinforcement bars, balls and round timber has been increased.

As for the pharmaceutical industry, there is also a high production volume of 47%, fully covering the needs of the domestic market for essential goods.

In light industry, growth was 15% due to an increase in the production of textiles, clothing and leather products.

In the production of wood and cork products, an increase of 43.2% was provided.

In the production of building materials, the growth was 1.8%.

"Positive dynamics in the manufacturing industry was achieved due to the measures taken by the Government to support during the pandemic and the sustainable development of small and medium-sized businesses," the minister added.

In the transport sector, the volume index was 82.8%, mainly due to the lockdown introduced in March last year, which lasted until the end of the year. However, despite the decline in traffic in traditional segments, a positive trend in the transit traffic of containerized cargo was still achieved.

Thus, compared to last year, the total volume of container transit traffic amounted to 876 thousand TEU, an increase of 32%.

The volume of freight traffic by all modes of transport amounted to 3.96 billion tons, or 94.3% of the previous year.

Speaking about the construction sector, the head of the ministry emphasized that despite the current situation, this industry remained a key driver of economic growth.

The volume index for construction at the end of 2020 amounted to 111.2%. Positive dynamics is observed in 16 regions.

In terms of housing construction, by the end of 2020, more than 15.336 million m2 of housing were commissioned, which is 116.8% to the level of 2019.

“To date, more than 140 thousand dwellings have been commissioned in the republic. The increase in the volume of housing commissioning in comparison with last year is noted in 15 regions,” said Minister Atamkulov.

In general, thanks to the growth of the main sectors of the manufacturing industry, including the production of domestic building materials, it was possible to increase the self-sufficiency of the economy and achieve positive dynamics in all related industries.
