At the government session chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, measures to implement the Address of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev "New Kazakhstan: The path of renewal and modernization" were considered. The report was made by the First Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Battakov.

So, according to him, at the moment, in order to stabilize prices for socially significant food products, measures are being taken at the republican and regional levels. The country has 1.3 million tons of food stocks, which is sufficient to meet the needs of the population.

In addition, in order to prevent unreasonable price increases and speculation, republican and local executive bodies conduct constant checks to ensure that trade entities comply with the trade markup.

“It was decided to increase funding for the purchase under the ‘turnover scheme’ from 54.6 to 100 billion tenge. And taking into account the stabilization funds, the total amount of funding for the purchase of socially significant food products will be increased to 140 billion tenge,” Yerlan Battakov said.

In order to improve price stabilization tools, the ministry is developing new approaches.

It is proposed to purchase food in the context of goods in three areas with an increase in the volume of purchases of socially significant food products.

First. Long-term storage goods (rice, sugar, salt and buckwheat) are proposed to be purchased in stabilization funds, both through direct and forward purchases.

Second. Procurement under the "circulating scheme" will be carried out for vegetables, meat, dairy products and sunflower oil.

Third. To reduce the cost of production of flour, bread and horns, it is proposed to purchase wheat through Food Corporation JSC. It is also proposed to attract this institute for the purchase of grain for fodder purposes and sunflower seeds.

“The above approaches will provide the population with products in sufficient volumes and at an affordable price,” he said.
