Launch of new gas processing plants discussed by Government

The plans to increase the production of marketable gas for the domestic market were discussed at the meeting on Saturday, Feb. 25, chaired by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov.

The participants discussed issues of implementation of new projects on Kashagan field, in particular, construction of a gas processing plant with capacity of 1 billion cubic meters. Currently, construction and assembly works are actively carried out on site and uninterrupted supply of equipment has been ensured. The plant is expected to be commissioned in 2025.

In addition, as part of the expected increase in oil production at the field, the construction of another large gas plant with a capacity of 4 billion cubic meters is under consideration. The project is planned to be realized in two stages: two lines of 2 billion cubic meters of gas.

The Prime Minister noted the need to accelerate the preparatory work and to sign a detailed road map for the new gas plant in the near future.

The participants of the meeting also considered some issues of transit and import of gas.
