New opportunities for bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan discussed by Zhumangarin and Khodjaev

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Trade and Integration Serik Zhumangarin met with Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjaev yesterday, Sept. 26, 2022.

The parties discussed cooperation in many areas, including the development of mechanisms for forward purchase of fruits and vegetables, the allocation of quotas for the delivery of Kazakhstan-made cars to Uzbekistan, the possibility of Uzbekistan providing a discount on the transit of Kazakh flour to Afghanistan, increasing the frequency of flights, etc.

Special attention during the bilateral meeting was paid to the project of establishing the Central Asia International center of industrial cooperation. Parties agreed to complete the process of forming legal basis to start implementation of the project by the end of this year. At present active interest on participation in the project of the International center of industrial cooperation as the managing company and realization at the expense of own financing is shown by the potential Kazakhstan investor. 

Let's remind, that the project on creation of the Central Asia International center of industrial cooperation is one of key elements of the plan of practical actions ("Road map") on increase of turnover between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan to $10 billion within the next 5 years. The project is long-term, according to the joint action plan on creation of the Central Asia International Center of Industrial Cooperation, includes 3 main stages and 20 specific events. 

Uzbekistan is Kazakhstan's main trade partner in the Central Asian region. According to the results of 7 months, mutual trade increased by 26.3%.
