Today the President of Kazakhstan, as part of the official visit to the USA, held a meeting with Adena Friedman, the President of Nasdaq. This was reported by the press service of Akorda.

During the meeting, the Head of State greeted the company's decision to work in Kazakhstan.

"We welcome your decision to work in Kazakhstan, in AIFC (Astana International Financial Centre). We have made changes in the Constitution and a number of laws of the country. English law and preferences for all participants have been introduced. We create all favourable conditions for those who will work," the President of Kazakhstan said.

Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that Nasdaq’s decision will serve as a good incentive for its partners and other foreign companies to develop cooperation with the AIFC.

In turn, Adena Friedman shared her impressions of the work done by Kazakhstan on creating the international financial centre.

"We are very impressed with the plans for AIFC development. We would like to note a careful study of all issues related to the financial centre’s functioning. We welcome such a solid approach to this work," the head of Nasdaq said.

In addition, Adena Friedman expressed readiness to start cooperation with AIFC and provide  Kazakhstan’s Stock Exchange with advanced technologies for its functioning.

During the talks, the sides focused on making joint efforts and establishing long-term relations in the formation of the positive investment climate in Kazakhstan.

In conclusion, the Head of State has invited Adena Friedman to take part in the official opening of the AIFC in July this year.

Also, the President of Kazakhstan today held a meeting with Harvey Schwartz, President of Goldman Sachs.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of further cooperation between Astana International Financial Centre and Goldman Sachs.

Nursultan Nazarbayev told about the results of the activities on launching the international financial centre.

"To date, all legal conditions have been adopted. The court based on the English law was established. All the necessary preferences for the participants, including visas and tax benefits, have been created," the President of Kazakhstan said.

The  Head of State has also noted that AIFC built cooperation with the American Nasdaq and the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

Also, today in New York Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Darren Woods, the Chief Executive Officer of ExxonMobil.

During the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan highlighted the economic partnership between Kazakhstan and ExxonMobil in the oil and gas industry.

The Kazakh leader noted the company's participation in projects to develop oil and gas fields of Tengiz and Kashagan.

In turn, Darren Woods congratulated Nursultan Nazarbayev on the beginning of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the UN Security Council and the successful conduct of negotiations with US President Donald Trump.

Recall, the day before in Washington, the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Michael Pence, Vice-President of the United States of America. During the meeting, the sides discussed the most topical issues of bilateral cooperation.

During the conversation, the Head of State and the Vice-President of the USA noted the importance of strengthening and further expansion of political and economic relations between Kazakhstan and the United States.
