Head of the Government Olzhas Bektenov during his working trip to Ulytau region got acquainted with the industrial potential of the region. Prime Minister visited Zhylanda mine, congratulated the workers of the industry on the upcoming professional holiday Miner's Day and presented them with state awards on behalf of the President.

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov listened to the report of the Chairman of the Board of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP Nurahmet Nuriyev on the current activities of the company, investment programmes, development plans, social projects and ongoing work to develop in-country value.

In total for 6 months of the current year the Corporation purchased goods, works and services for 92.7 billion tenge from suppliers of Ulytau region, the share of purchase of goods and services from manufacturers of the region was 35.5%. Ofteik contracts for 27.8 billion tenge were concluded with local enterprises. The total share of in-country value of Kazakhmys in the current year was 71.7%. Receipts to the republican and local budgets have multiplied.

With 7% growth of industry to last year's figures the region ranks 4th in the country. Prime Minister instructed not to reduce the pace and emphasised the available reserves for further growth.

"Head of State in his Address to the people of Kazakhstan noted the importance of development of mining and metallurgical complex of the country. Among the priority tasks is the stimulation of private enterprises to invest in geological exploration. Every effort should be made to increase the reserves of raw materials for our manufacturing industries. We are facing the task of increasing the competitiveness of production facilities through the introduction of new technologies, increasing local content and developing exports. Further development of the industry directly depends on whether our manufacturers can quickly adapt to the technological changes offered by global trends and make the most of every opportunity," Olzhas Bektenov emphasised, noting the need for coordinated work of government agencies and business in this direction.

On the eve of Miners' Day, annually celebrated on the last Sunday of August, the Prime Minister congratulated miners on their professional holiday and presented state awards on behalf of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The Order ‘Kurmet’ was awarded to Daulet Aikimbayev, Chairman of the Council of Veterans of the branch of Kazakhmys Corporation LLP. Order ‘"Yenbek Daneky" of the II degree was awarded to miner Aliaskar Aimanov, "Yenbek Daneky" of the II degree was awarded to site foremen Kanat Isabek and Bauyrzhan Kopabaev, medal "Yeren yenbegi ushin" was awarded to assistant driller Daniyar Akkikelov, operator Raushan Kalmurzina, Bekmukhan Kaldarov, sinker, Akbeisen Kairbekov, deputy site manager, Kentay Urazbekov, driller, Beisen Abelmazhin, machine operator, Boris Polikarpov, lead mechanic and Arstanbek Abdykairov, Operations Director of Zhezkazgan concentrators.
