Olzhas Bektenov Discussed Issues of Cooperation in the Transport Sector with the Head of Changi Airport Group Yam Kum Weng

Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of the Singaporean company Changi Airport Group (CAG) Yam Kum Weng. Prospects for cooperation in the implementation of projects in the aviation industry were discussed.

Olzhas Bektenov noted that in accordance with the instructions of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the formation of an international aviation hub, comprehensive work is underway to develop the airport infrastructure of the capital, including the construction of a second airport. In this regard, significant potential for expanding practical interaction between Kazakhstan and Singapore was noted. Attention was paid to attracting the international experience and technological expertise of the company to the development of the aviation infrastructure of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Changi Airport Group manages Changi International Airport and Seletar Airport in Singapore. Through its subsidiary Changi Airports International, the group participates in projects for the development, management and master planning of airport infrastructure at more than 60 airports in more than 20 countries around the world. CAI also implements advanced digital solutions, including biometrics and automation, and adheres to the principles of carbon neutrality.

Yam Kum Weng expressed the interest of Changi Airport Group in further deepening cooperation with Kazakhstan. The head of the Singaporean company noted the significant potential of the city of Astana as a bridge between Europe and Asia and confirmed the group’s readiness to provide expertise, knowledge and experience in the airport industry in the implementation of the project for the construction of a new airport of the capital as a regional hub.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed the high level of Kazakh-Singaporean relations and the interest of the parties in further expanding practical interaction. It was noted that further cooperation may be focused on the creation of a full-fledged airport ecosystem.
