Olzhas Bektenov hears information on Government Commission's work at plane crash site near Aktau city

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov within the framework of the Interdepartmental Commission on prevention of offences under the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan off the agenda heard the report of Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev on the work of the Government Commission at the site of the plane crash near Aktau.

Rescue services have completed the search. Twenty-nine people have been hospitalised, while 38 people were killed in the plane crash. All the injured have undergone necessary investigations. After stabilisation of the condition, the patients were hospitalised according to their profiles and are being treated in full. Also, highly qualified specialists from the National Centre for Emergency Medicine and leading republican centres arrived from Astana by sanaviation. In addition to Kazakhstani specialists, a special aircraft of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation and a sanaviation brigade of the Republic of Azerbaijan also arrived. Relatives of the injured and dead are arriving, they are provided with necessary assistance by the Akimat of the region on transfer, accommodation and food. Brigades of psychologists are working.

In turn, the Ministry of Transport is working together with the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Aviation authorities of Brazil and Embraer Company are expected to arrive tomorrow. In Tupkaragan district there is an emergency situation of man-made nature on a local scale.

On the instructions of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, medical aid is being provided to the victims in full, relatives and friends of the victims are being provided with necessary support measures. Hotline phones are functioning, and more than a thousand calls have been received.

"First of all, I express my condolences to the families and friends of the victims. The Government of Kazakhstan and authorised bodies provide all necessary support to the victims and relatives of the victims," Olzhas Bektenov said.

In addition, the head of the Government gave a number of instructions to strengthen aviation security.

"This sad event shows that we also need to take certain measures on flight safety. First of all, it is necessary to conduct an unscheduled audit and take special control over the technical condition of airports and aircrafts. As part of these measures, we need to double-check the qualifications, clearances and competence of our airlines' crews. In order to promptly respond to aviation accidents, it is necessary to improve the mechanism of emergency rescue operations and ensure coordinated work of the government agencies concerned. It is necessary to draw the right conclusions from this situation with the development of specific recommendations to prevent similar events in the future," Prime Minister stressed.
