Olzhas Bektenov Holds Meeting on Transport Sector Development

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov chaired a meeting on the implementation of the Head of State’s instructions regarding the development of the national cargo airline, as well as increasing maritime and railway transportation.

Approaches of the Ministry of Transport, the Samruk-Kazyna National Wealth Fund, NC KTZ, and the Turlov Private holding on organizing operations and ensuring sustainable development of the cargo airline were presented.

The meeting reviewed issues of accelerating the launch of operational activities, including the phased deployment of aircraft, providing aviation fuel at competitive prices to offer favorable conditions on the China–Kazakhstan–Western Europe route as a transit cargo hub. Attention was also paid to the development of supporting infrastructure, including airport capacities, cargo terminals, and warehouse logistics.

In addition, measures to increase the loading of Kazakhstan’s seaports of Aktau and Kuryk were discussed in order to boost cargo volumes from Central Asia to the Caucasus and Western Europe.

For the railway sector, plans were presented for further infrastructure modernization and development of the Kazakh railway network to increase throughput capacity, as well as improvements to tariff policy.

Following the meeting, the Prime Minister issued a number of instructions.
