Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with Director General of the State Corporation Rosatom Alexey Likhachev.

The head of Rosatom informed Olzhas Bektenov about the launch, held the day before, of construction of the first nuclear power plant in the Almaty region.

During the meeting, mechanisms were discussed for ensuring Kazakhstani content in goods and services, the use of domestic equipment and materials, as well as engagement of human resources and experience exchange. Issues of localizing nuclear fuel cycle processes were raised. Practical aspects of forming an international consortium that will unite leading Kazakhstani and foreign partners were also considered.

The Russian side confirmed its readiness to cooperate with suppliers from Kazakhstan and other countries, ensuring the necessary level of cooperation in the construction of the nuclear power plant.

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov stressed that the construction of the NPP is under the control of the Head of State. The Government will provide the necessary support for the implementation of the project.
