On the instruction of the Head of State, the “Games of the Future-2026” will start in Astana on July 29. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov familiarized himself with the progress of preparation of Astana’s sports and urban infrastructure for hosting the third international multisport tournament.
The competitions will bring together about one thousand athletes from 35 countries of Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. Participation in the solemn opening ceremony was confirmed by heads of foreign states, leadership of international sports organizations, and major companies – leaders of the digital industry.
“Games of the Future-2026” is a new-generation phygital tournament that combines traditional sports and digital disciplines. The competitions will be held at 4 venues: the multifunctional ice palace “Barys Arena”, the athletics sports complex “QAZAQSTAN”, the Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Palace of Martial Arts, and the Beeline Arena National Tennis Center.
Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabossynov reported on the readiness of the facilities and their adaptation to the hybrid format. Uninterrupted operation of digital equipment has been ensured. The venues have been prepared to receive participants and guests of the tournament, and the necessary conditions have been created for the operation of a volunteer center with more than one thousand people. Special attention was paid to security, logistics, and the level of service.
Tournament participants will compete in 8 disciplines: phygital football, phygital basketball, phygital shooters, phygital martial arts, phygital dances, Battle Royale, as well as MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) on personal computers and mobile devices. The total prize fund of the tournament amounts to over $4 million. Kazakhstan will be represented at the “Games of the Future-2026” by 11 teams in all 8 disciplines.
The tournament is held with active sponsorship support. According to the specialized department’s estimates, the event will attract 10 thousand foreign tourists. This will give a significant impetus to the development of services in the hotel, transport, and service sectors.
The Prime Minister instructed to ensure coordinated work of all state bodies and organizations involved in the conduct of the tournament.
