Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov visited the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Astana and left a note in the book of condolences opened in connection with the crash of Embraer 190 aircraft of Az Airlines near Aktau airport.
Mourning was declared in Azerbaijan on 26 December. The memory of the victims was honoured with a minute of silence.
"At this difficult moment, on behalf of the Government of Kazakhstan and on my own behalf, I express my deep condolences to the families, relatives and friends of the victims. Sharing the pain of loss, I wish speedy recovery to the victims of the plane crash, and patience and fortitude to the Azerbaijani people. We will provide brotherly Azerbaijan with appropriate assistance and comprehensive support," Olzhas Bektenov wrote.
Earlier, the head of the Government expressed condolences to the families of the dead Kazakhs, as well as instructed to provide full support to all affected citizens of Azerbaijan, Russia and Kyrgyzstan. Necessary assistance is provided to family members of the deceased passengers arriving in the city of Aktau.
