On the instruction of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and Head of the Presidential Administration Roman Sklyar took part in the meeting of the maslikhat deputies of the Ulytau Region.

The deputies were read a letter from the Head of State nominating two candidates for the position of Akim of the Ulytau Region — Deputy Akim of the city of Astana Yeset Baiken and Deputy Akim of the Ulytau Region Nurtas Karipbayev.

64 deputies took part in the open voting. 87% of the votes were cast for the candidacy of Yeset Baiken.

By the relevant Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Eset Baiken was appointed Akim of the Ulytau Region.

The Head of the Government presented the new Akim Yeset Baiken.

In his speech, Olzhas Bektenov emphasized that the entry into force of the New Constitution marked an important historical stage of development for Kazakhstan. At a recent meeting of the chambers of Parliament, the Head of State set the task of transitioning the economy to a new model, which requires the introduction of modern and effective approaches and principles of work at all levels.

The Prime Minister voiced a number of instructions given by the President to the regional leadership.

For the development of the manufacturing industry and small and medium-sized businesses, the task was set to implement large investment projects. The importance of forming an agro-industrial cluster was noted. The regional leadership was instructed to continue work on the modernization of engineering and energy infrastructure. It is also necessary to accelerate the construction of highways, in particular the Karaganda – Zhezkazgan highway. Attention was paid to the development of social infrastructure through improving the accessibility and quality of healthcare, education, culture, and sports facilities. An instruction was also given to develop the region as one of the significant tourist centers of the country, taking into account the rich historical and cultural heritage of Ulytau.

In his address to the active members of the region, the Prime Minister emphasized that the implementation of the Head of State’s course on building a Just and Progressive Kazakhstan should be reflected in tangible changes for the population. The successful fulfillment of the assigned tasks will give a new impetus to the socio-economic development of the region and will contribute to improving the quality of life of citizens.
