Positive Growth Observed in Key Sectors of Manufacturing Industry for First Nine Months of the Year

At the Government session chaired by Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, the results of socio-economic development and the execution of the national budget for the first nine months of the year were reviewed. Minister of Industry and Construction Yersayin Nagaspayev delivered a report on key performance indicators in the manufacturing, metallurgy, engineering, building materials, and other industrial sectors.

According to the Minister, the Head of State, during a meeting on improving the quality of economic development, instructed that greater attention be paid to qualitative transformations aimed at increasing citizens’ incomes. The growth of industrial and construction performance indicators is primarily focused on improving the quality of outcomes.

Yersayin Nagaspayev noted that, based on the results of the nine months, positive growth was observed in the main sectors of the manufacturing industry, with a combined rate of 6.2%.

Production volumes increased in metallurgy, mechanical engineering, the chemical industry, building materials, light industry, and 11 other manufacturing sectors. Output in the metallurgical industry grew by 0.3%.

“The positive dynamics are largely the result of measures taken to increase the capacity utilization of domestic production facilities and improve the supply of raw materials to processing enterprises,” the Minister said.

According to him, production in the engineering industry increased by 14%, driven by growth in the output of vehicles, agricultural machinery, and various types of equipment.

The increase in indicators was due to higher domestic demand, the implementation of large investment projects, and existing state support measures.

For example, this year saw the commissioning of several projects, including the KIA passenger car plant in Kostanay, a multi-brand passenger car factory in Almaty, Stadler Kazakhstan’s passenger railcar plant in Astana, and a freight car production plant in Atyrau.

In the chemical industry, output increased by 9.6% due to the growth in production of sodium cyanide, polypropylene, ammophos, and ammonium nitrate.

Production of construction materials rose by 4.7%, supported by growth in the production of ready-mix concrete, construction mortars, lime, refractory products, cement, and concrete structures.

In light industry, output grew by 9.4%.

Regarding the construction sector, the Minister noted that the volume of construction work reached about 6.4 trillion tenge in the first nine months, an increase of 14.9%.

At the same time, positive growth dynamics were maintained in 17 regions.

“In general, since the beginning of the year, the sector has shown steady positive dynamics averaging 115%, which indicates the progressive development of the industry and the effective implementation of planned measures,” Yersayin Nagaspayev said.

According to him, the planned housing commissioning target for this year is set at 19.2 million square meters.

In the first nine months, 12.9 million square meters of housing were commissioned, an increase of 3.4%.

Housing growth was recorded in 17 regions of the country, with the largest increases observed in the Almaty, Ulytau regions, and the city of Almaty.

“The systematic work to ensure stable growth rates across industries will continue. At the same time, the main focus will be on launching new production facilities, increasing localization levels, and stimulating investment activity in the regions,” the Minister summarized.
