May 6, 2020, government delegations of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan met to jointly address the issues of eliminating the consequences of the emergency at the Sardoba reservoir, which led to the flooding of some regions of the Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan and the Turkistan region of Kazakhstan.

The delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar, includes Akim of the Turkistan Region Umirzak Shukeyev, Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan Magzum Mirzagaliyev and Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan Darkhan Satybaldy.
