Government takes measures to reduce tariffs for access roads

On Jan. 21, 2022, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to restore order on the access roads.

In this connection, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar instructed to conduct inspections of the activities of natural monopoly entities providing services in the field of access roads, analyze the pricing of the cost of services and take measures to reduce tariffs.

Thus, from Feb. 1, 2022, on average, the tariffs of 21 entities providing services for the provision of access roads in a number of regions of the country (Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Kyzylorda, West Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Almaty, Pavlodar, Akmola, Karaganda , East Kazakhstan, Aktobe and North Kazakhstan regions).

Also, tariffs have been reduced by 93% (from 1,741.53 tenge/car*km to 118.07 tenge/car*km) of ARMAN KALA LTD LLP, which provides access road services in Pavlodar region.

This measure will have a positive impact on the cost of thermal coal from Bogatyr Komir LLP, which is the main fuel supplier for energy-producing organizations in Kazakhstan.

In addition, for the establishing objective pricing, the tariffs of Transport Service Center JSC were reduced by 92% (from 2,117.98 tenge/car*km to 164.29 tenge/car*km), the largest balance holder of sidings located at key railway facilities in the country. Tariffs come into effect from March 1, 2022.

These measures will have a positive effect on transport costs and the final cost of goods, including food.
